coming up for air
i wasn't going to do this. post about my personal life. but i've had questions and concerns, which i actually appreciate...it's nice to know you miss me when i don't post.
the not so good news..
my almost 33 year old marriage is in the process of ending. it came out of the blue, and was a shock. looking back i can see there were signs. it's been a hard month of a wild roller coaster ride of emotions. i know ultimately it's a good thing, but it brings waves upon waves of change.
however, as the old saying goes: "change is good.." while i certainly don't always like the process, i can't deny that in the end. that's a pretty accurate statement...
so...life moves on...
differently..
not much art making has happened.
but things are brewing in my head again...
and 'i've realized with startling clarity just how autobiographical my hurricane pieces have been. many of those headlines well make their way into some more personal pieces...
and for the much better news...
I received a copy of British Patchwork and Quilting Magazine from my friend Marlene Cohen
last week. In it is a wonderful article she wrote about the Open Hear/Helping Hands exhibit that Laura Cater-Woods curated.
not only were three of my pieces photographed, but also the work of 2 new friends i met in Florida: Sharon Ahmed, and Rebecca Reasons-Edwards. It was so exciting to turn the page and see their work as well. what a small world we live in!
one of the pieces of mine that is in the article is I Read the News Today O Boy, which is also at Markings, the PAQA exhibit.

OH my goodness Claire....I was wondering what was happening with you as I faithfully would check your blog for a new post.
I'm so sorry and hope each day will allow you to be alittle stronger.

thank you so much... today i'm good. and grateful to be so.
Congratulations, Claire! Nothing like being published to raise one's spirits. "I Read the News Today Oh Boy" is wonderful. It certainly fits the exhibit title. Know that I am sending good thoughts your way.
I was so excited to see a new posting, but saddened to read that you are going through some rough challenges. I don't know what to say except I am sending you cyber hugs and wishes for a smoother road ahead. Congratulations on you publication. Your artwork is so moving. It is nice to see it recognized by others.
Claire, I'm thinking of you and praying for the best for you.
Maybe you can use your art more consciously to work through your feelings.
I'm so sorry, Claire, and will be remembering you on this new road.

art helps. Take care of yourself.
Hugs, darlin', as you know. Gee whiz - Marlene didn't say a word about writing the article. How exciting to be an international star! And I know Sharon Ahmed - she took a workshop with me. Small world, is right. Good going, Claive!
Hey Claive,
Hang in there... and yes, as kathy said.. art helps. It's gotten you through some other hard times.

Claire, I am sorry to hear of the changes in your personal life,
congratulations on being in P&Q mag, I have the current May issue and can't see you in there so is June out already or did Marlene get copies early? will look out for the june issue or is it an earlier issue as I do not buy it every month, would love to see the artical, Frances
Claire, I too am sorry about the personal life stuff...what a pain. But change is good, rough, but can be very good. I know your art will serve you well. I had been so afraid that it was health issues...don't know why I think relationship issues aren't as bad...must say something about me, huh? My thoughts and prayers are with you!
